One year ago!

"I am the LORD< the God of all flesh.  Is anything impossible for Me?"  Jer 32:27 NKJV

It has been one year ago today and as we look back over the past year, we are constantly reminded of the amazing power of our Almighty Physician and LORD.  He has richly blessed us over the past year in so many ways.
When the doctors told me that Nathan would most likely not make it through his disease and truama, and that if he did, they didn't know how long it would be for, or if he did live, if he  would ever walk again I didn't know where to turn but upwards.  And as the hours and days passed my Dad use to point upwards to remind me of where to turn at all times.
As I write this all I can say is how AWESOME our God is!

At this time Nathan has come further then the doctors ever expected him to come ever.  His strength in his arms and leg, is beyond what they ever expected. His internal organs are working better then ever expected and Nathan has remainded emotionally strong - to the disblief of the Psych team.  Even though we have told all his doctors (and nurses) time and again that it is only because of our Almighty Physician  they still are full of disblief.

Next week Nathan is returning to work at Sheehans truck Center - one day  a week.  this is a very exciting time for us.  -When Nate was in hospital he told his co -workers, docs and nurses that he would be doing this and not one of us thought this would be possible, but D.V it will be possible.  Once again we see His almighty hand at work.

At this time we would like to say thankyou to all our family, friends, communion of saints, coworkers and all others who have not only supported us financially, physically but most important who have supported us with their prayers.
Thank you

At this time we also ask that you pray for the DeBruin family.  Their 'Papa" is at the present time in serious condition in the Burn Trauma unit (where Nathan was) Pray for the docs, nurses and all others involved in his care.
May our Heavenly Father surround them with all they stand in need of as a family.

With many thanks and prayers

"I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD the Maker of heaven and earth."
                                                                                                                                                        Ps 121:1-2

This will be our final post, so I will give you all a quick update as to what has all happened in the past 8  months.
I can't believe it was 8 months ago already that our lives were changed in many ways.  When Nathan was diagnosed with flesh eating disease, we were all uncertain as to what was going to happen, and how our lives were going to change.  The only thing that did not change was our Heavenly Father's unfailing love and faithfulness, and in this alone we were comforted and certain that our future was completely in His hands.  How thankful we are to rest in this knowledge.
After 99 days in hospital, Nathan returned home to us, his wife and children.  It was a difficult and very busy transition, but with time, we all adjusted and began a "new normal"  It was only a few months later, and we recieved the phone call, it was time for Nate to return to hospital and begin the "final" leg (no pun intended) of our journey.  April 8th Nate was admitted to the Hamilton Rehab Center to begin relearning to walk.  This was also the most exciting part, to see Nathana walk again was something we had originally been told would not happen for approx 1 year after the amputation and here we were not even 6 months later and Nathan was learning to walk.  Our Heavenly Father certainly was in full control of all things.
After only 5 weeks in hospital Nathan returned home, walking!! We were told, we were done with physio, done with hospital stays (D.V.) and all we had left were doctors appointments.  Nathan would now have to learn to walk in the real world, where the ground is uneven, crowds of people don't move out of the way for you and children (inculding his own) will run right in front of you and even take out a cane.
It has been 6 weeks since discharge, and since then we have seen Nate's plastic surgeon Dr. Cooper.  Dr. Cooper has been with us since the very first surgery and has treated us with respect and as people not a number.  He is an excellent surgeon who truly saw that,( as he put it) "a greater power is watching over you."  Yes, our Almighty and Heavenly Father has guided Dr. Cooper and the many other doctors and nurses and medical staff.  It was our Master Physician who healed Nate!  We will not be seeing Dr. Cooper again as he is moving out east, and as Nate has healed so well that he most likely will not need to see a plastic surgeon in the near future.
As for the other doctors that we must yet visit; Dr. Grad, (prosthetic doctor) we will be seeing regularily.  Nathan will also be seeing his dermatologist as well and next year Nate will once again visit his cardiologist.  But at this time we only see a doctor about once a month, and soon hopefully less.
Now to what Nathan has been doing over the past 6 weeks.  Well if you know Nate, then you know it takes  a lot to keep him down.  The first week home, Nate took it easy, but since then he started by driving the lawn mower and in the past week he has been driving tractor.  He has also been back in his shop fixing friends and family vehicles - keeping himself very busy.  Nate has had to learn how to do things again, things that were so easy before.  He has had to learn how to safely maneuver his way around his shop and onto a tractor.  Nate also has had to relearn how to swim, as he cannot wear his prosthetic in the water -  it just took one dive in the pool and two cute kids and Nate is back to having fun in the water.
Our lives have definately changed, but it has been all for the glory of God.  He has graciously carried us through these past 8 months and we know that He will continue to carry us through the rest of our lives.  We have been richly blessed with family who truly care and have helped us so much in the past months.  We have been blessed with friends who have steped up and done so many many things for us.  We have been blessed with the communion of saints - in our own congregation we have truly felt their love and care, and the communion world wide who prayed and assisted us in so many ways as well.  We have been also blessed with others, such as those at  Sheehan's truck center, parts stores, and other places who have helped us in so many waysll.   To each and every one of you - THANK YOU.  We are truly thankful for each prayer to our Heavenly Father, for He has heard them all.  We are thankful for every other thing that has been done for us as well.  How gracious and awesome our Father is to provide us with so much.
May each of you, trust in Him alone.  He will guide you each day and He does have a perfect plan worked out for each of you.  His Word prevails.
With thankful hearts and christian love.

"Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men."  Psalm 66:5

How awesome our God is; He has graciously allowed Nate the ability to walk again.  It has been 4  weeks now in physio and the progress has been unbelieveable.  Nate went from wheelchair bound to walking without canes in 4 weeks.  In the medical community Nate is considered a huge"success" story, but in our Church community (and to the world)  God has shown us His awesome power and ability to do what He wills when He wills.

Nate is doing very well, and hopefully will be coming home for good at the end of next week.  There are many things Nate would love to be able to do right away, but he needs time and patience to re-learn how to do many tasks we deem "simple".   At this point it appears Nate's "new" leg  (prosthetic) is out walking his "old" leg (right) - what I mean is that due to all the work (surgery) they had to do on that leg, the right knee is causing pain and discomfort especially when going from sitting to standing or standing to sitting.  Hopefully with time this too will correct itself and the knee will become much stronger.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.  Please continue to pray for Nathan, that he may find strength and comfort in his Heavenly Father even in the difficult and discouraging days.  May our Heavenly Father continue to bless each of you as He has so richly blessed us.

"Praise the LORD.  Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever."  Psalm 106:1

Since Nathan came home early from hospital this week, (due to a conference for the physio and doctors)  we decieded that may be he should write the next blog, so the following is written by Nate.

Well its been two weeks since starting inpatient rehab (but only 7 days due to holidays) and I have to admit that after the first very frustrating day progress has been remarkable.  They have not only taught me to walk in the paralell bars but have graduated me to walking with two canes , then one , then none!  They have also been teaching me how to tackle things like curbs, stairs, and uneven and soft surfaces as well as how to stand again after a fall.  This weekend they allowed me to take the leg home - I had to promise them I would use two canes when I am walking.  Walking with a prostetic requires an incredible amount of energy and after walking only a short distance I find myself getting tired very quickly.  Its going  to take a long time to build up endurance but with much patience and prayer the Lord willing I will be able to walk well again.  In the days ahead they will teach me to master walking without the aid of canes because as of now they are simply wobbly baby steps, then move on to learn how to carry objects and walk - but all in due time!

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.  May our Heavenly Father bless each of you as He has so richly blessed us.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Today Nathan started physio with his prosthetic.  What a work out!! Wearing an above knee prosthetic requires a lot of energy and strength to learn to walk on it.  It was absolutly incredible to see Nathan walking on his prosthetic not once but mulitple times today.  This physio is EXTREMEMLY intensive, frustrating (and painful)  when it doesn't go just right, unfortunately there will be many days of frustration as each time Nathan accomplishes one goal the next one will be more difficult.  Please continue to pray for strength and encouragment as Nathan spends these days in hospital and in physio.

"When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other.  Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future."  Ecclesiastes 7:14

Nathan has officially been admitted to hospital again.  He is at the Hamilton Rehab Center for intensive physio, and training to walk on his prosthetic.  Nate will be there for approx 4-6 weeks, depending on how well things go.  Nate and I are not looking forward to this time in hospital again, but are thankful that Nate is not sick this time, he will be coming home for weekends  and that this time is hopefully the last big step to walking and starting our lives without hospital every week.    This too is in the hands of our Heavenly Father and He alone knows the course Nate must now take.

If you would like to visit Nate, he is on the second floor of the rehab building which is attached to the Hamilton General Hospital, the center is located on Wellington Ave. between Barton and Burlington St.  The official area is 2B- south amputee and spinal cord floor, room 216 bed 2 (which is the bed by the door.)  Nate has physio twice a day at 10:30 and 2:00 for an hour at a time, and needs total concentration for these, meaning that the physio team and we request that you do not visit during physio.  These times are not consistent for every day as Nate also has classes to go to and appointments with different teams (OT, Docs, prosthetic team and scar control team) If you would like to visit please contact Nate before you come, and he will let you know the best time to visit.

At this time we would like to thank you for your continued support with prayers, encouragment and donations. These all have been such a blessing to us, and we pray that we may use our blessings to the honour and glory of our Heavenly Father.  Many things have changed in our lives and continue to change.  From more house renos that need to be made to make things easier for Nate, to a new vehicle suited for him to drive for when he returns to work, but in all these things we must use what we have been given to honour Him first.  We pray that our Father will continue to bless your lives as He has so richly blessed ours.

“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.  I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.  I say; My purpose will stand and I will do all that I please.”  Isaiah 46: 9-10
A number of things have happened in the past couple of weeks that we thought you might find interesting....on March 30th Nathan stood on his prosthetic for the very first time.  It was an incredible moment, to see – Nathan standing, both feet on the ground and not having to hold on.  Unfortunately the socket (part of the prosthetic that goes over Nate’s left limb (a.k.a “stumpy”) was much too large so Nate was unable to take any steps. Then a week and a half later (April 8th) Nate not only stood on his prosthetic but he took his first steps – they were not smooth or perfect but they were steps and it was a very exciting moment... unfortunately the socket still did not fit properly, and so Nate was unable to walk in it for long, another appointment was made for further fitting.
On Monday April 11, Nathan and I along with the kids went back to Hamilton for another fitting.  This time the kids were able to see Daddy’s prosthetic and watch Dad walk, the smiles on their faces were enough to make us all grin.  Dad was walking, they were so used to Dad wheeling that it was really incredible to see him walking.  Once again the socket still didn’t fit perfectly and they needed to do some more alterations...with the “promise” that the prosthetic will be ready for physio on Mon April 18th.  (Just for your own info, it is very normal for the socket not to fit the first time around and will need a lot of alterations.  The prosthetic itself will also need alterations for height, weight bearing, foot placement etc. )   This being said, yes Nathan is going to be admitted to hospital for 4-6 weeks starting on Friday April 15th.  He will thankfully be able to be home for the weekends and holidays but has to stay over from Monday – Friday.  When we get further details as to his room, the times when he will be having physio and CANNOT have visitors, and his schedule in general we will post the info.
At this time I would like to thank all of our wonderful friends, family and our Church community as a whole for all the driving you have done for us.  Nathan’s physio was three times a week in Hamilton for two hours and over the past two months I have had to drive only a few times.  We have been richly blessed and continually cared for.  Our Heavenly Father knows what we need when we need it most.  To Him be all Honour, Thanks and Praise.
With thankful hearts; Nathan, Aileen, Taryn and Aiden Diek

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." Prvb 19:21

Monday (Feb 28) Nate was casted for the liner for his prosthetic, it was at this time that we were notified that it would be approx 3 weeks before Nate's prosthetic would come in. Because of the shape, size and all the skin grafts on Nate's left limb - he needs a completely custom built liner (made only in California) and prosthetic (suitable for a  very active "young" man)  this means it will take the approx 3 weeks before Nate's new leg arrives.  Monday afternoon it was decided that Nate might as well be discharged home, continue out patient physio and when his prosthetic arrives, return for the 4-6 week in patient program.   So at time of writting, we are returning to Hamilton for another appointment, book a number more appointments and find out what hopefully will happen.

In all this we are once again reminded of who is in control, our LORD, and Heavenly Father has plans for us and for all that will happen.

Please continue to remember us in your prayers and we thank you for the continued support, love and prayers you continue to show to us.  May our Father bless each of you as He has so richly blessed us.

"But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations." Ps 33:11

This week we once again have seen how the LORD's plans are awesome and perfect.  On Thursday (Feb 24) we received a phone call requesting Nathan come to the Regional Rehab Center to be admitted for the prosthetic rehab program- a 4-6 week program in which Nate will be getting his prosthetic leg.  So Friday we made the trek back to Hamilton to admit Nate to hospital once again.  He was seen by doctors, nurses, physio therapists and the prosthetic team. Once assessed by all the teams and met a whole new group of people, Nate was given his first weekend pass home.  Monday morning we have to return and Nate will start the week with casting his left limb for a prosthetic.  It takes approxiamtely a week for them to make the prosthetic, and so in the mean time they will be starting Nate on a physio program to prepare him for walking.  This means he will be having physio twice a day every day and when the prosthetic comes these twice day physio sessions will become longer and more intense.
Hopefully this will be Nate's last long term hospital stay, thankfully he will be given weekend passes home.

If you would like to visit Nate he will be at the Regional Rehab Center on Wellington, (attached to the General Hospital) Nate is on the second floor, in the spinal cord/amputee ward.  This is considered 2B south, Nate is in room 217, bed 1.  PLEASE contact Nate before visiting as he will be having many physio sessions and many doctor appointments and prosthetic appointments.  If you come and Nate is in physio or seeing someone in his room, please do not disturb him. If you are not sure how to contact him you can call or email us to get further info (if emailing please give me time to answer) Visiting hours are from 11 am - 8 pm.

Please continue to remember us in your prayer especially Nate as this session in hospital will probably include some pain with wearing a prosthetic, and much time away from family.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement and prayers.
Well here we are blogging again, much sooner then anyone expected.  Thursday (Feb 24)  we were notified they (Rehab center) had a bed for Nate and he was ready for for a prosthetic.  Friday morning we went to the Regional Rehab Center on Wellington in Hamilton to admit Nate and to be assessed by nurses, doctors, physio therapits and the prosthetic team.  Thankfully Nate was given a weekend pass home, but he has to return Monday morning to be casted for a prosthetic.  So Monday morning we will be returning to

"I am the LORD, the God of all mankind.  Is anything too hard for me?"  Jeremiah 32:27

Well it has been one week since discharge from hospital, and what a great week we had, but yes all great things must eventually change, and so today we had the first physio assessment.  They have decided to set Nate up for physio three times a week for two hours each time.  This leaves two days for doctor appointments - hopefully only one of these days will be needed for appointments.  At this time we also do not know for how many months this physio will continue on for, or when Nate will be getting his "training" prosthetic.  (He will not be getting his official prosthetic until they work out all the issues with the prosthetic and assess how he walks on it etc etc.)

At this time we are thankful for all those who have volunteered to drive Nate for physio, this will truly be an asset for our family, especially for me.  Thank-you!!

Since Nate will have on going physio for the next number of months, we have decided that this will be our last blog entry.  I or Nate will try to write at least one blog when he gets his prosthetic, but that won't be for a while.  If you hear rumors of a prosthetic please check the blog for the complete proper update.

We would like to take this time to thank you for sharing with us as we travelled down this life altering road.  Our Heavenly Father has given us so much through you and your encouragement.  Thank you for your continued prayers, our Father has heard and answered them according to His perfect plan.
Please continue to remember us in your prayers as the road is still long, and there are many obstacles yet to overcome, but with the LORD on our side, who can stand against us. (Ps. 124)
Well it has been one week since discharged home, and we truly enjoyed this week together, but all good things must change eventually.  Today (Tuesday) we had our first physio assessment, and it was decided that Nate will need physio three times a week for approx two hours each day and then doctors appointments on the in between days - Hamilton here we come!!

Thankfully we have already had a number of people who have offered to drive Nate in for physio, which really helps out, for both of us and especially for the kids. Thank you to these people!

At this time we have decided that this will be the last blog entery until Nate has a prostetic.  This may be months down the road, but this too we do not know.

Thank you for taking the time to read the blog, and sharing with us on this life altering journey.  The LORD has richly blessed us with the communion of saints spread world wide and He has heard all of your continued prayers.

"He has made everything beautiful in its time.  He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Our God is an awesome God!  Today, a day early Nathan is able to come home.  It has been 99 days in hospital, I think 11 surgeries, too many blood transfusions to count, approx 14 teams of doctors, more medication then I dare to even think of, and I could go on with all the different things that have happened over the past 3 months.  Through it all we see how our Heavenly Father has sustained us through His perfect plan for our lives.  He has done things for Nate that medically speaking are "unfathomable" but in Him all things are possible.

Through these past weeks, we have seen how the LORD uses times like this to show to all His creation, how powerful and mighty He is. Many refuse to believe in our Heavenly Father, but most(medical personnel)  did admit that a higher being must have been in  watching over Nate and us.

We do not know what lies ahead in the coming days and weeks, as not all appointments and physio has been completely set up yet, but we do know that our Father will continue to sustain us through these busy days as well.

We thank you all for your continued prayers, words of encouragement and all the help we have received.  Our home is beautiful and Nate was completely over whelmed by what you have done for us.  All this hard work you have done has made our home easily accessible for Nate to move around in.  Thank you.

P.S.  Our furry residents have been scared to show their faces since the big clean up.  Thanks for your help in eliminating them as well.

"In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name."  Psalm 33: 21

There is so much for us to be thankful once for, in this past week.  Nathan has seen much progress in his own rehabilitation, and that all the physio he does on his own and with the therapist is working.  Our Heavenly Father knows what we need when we need it.

The switch of hospitals, the very hot room he had to sleep in and all the new faces, added a lot of stress and uncertainty to Nate's mind, but as we look back we are thankful for the changes.  Nate's room is much cooler, (they fixed it a little bit ;) ) and the physio has been excellent

Each afternoon, Nate has physio with his therapist for approx 11/2 - 2 hours, depending on how much they talk!  Nate also has to do quite a few exercises and stretches himself every morning, and they take a couple hours to do as well.  All this physio has shown its effects this week.

On Monday Nate was able to stand for approx 30-45 seconds, by Wednesday Nate was standing for  3 minutes and by Friday was hopping back and forth down the parallel bars, holding on.  On Monday Nate could transfer, back and forth to things that are level or only a few inches in height difference, now he is able to transfer to things of many different heights, including things up to the height of our van seats.  Nate also is able to get a few more degrees of flexing of his elbow and knee, but these too will take time to get functional flexing out of them.  At this time we are both thrilled with the progress, and can't wait to get Nate home.

Speaking of home, next weekend, the 28th - 30th Nate will be coming home.  This is a weekend pass to see if there is anything else Nate needs to work on, or if its just strengthening and flexing.  Nate's ETA to leave Henderson "for good" is Feb 2, which is less then 2 weeks away.  We are very excited about this, as it is much sooner then we anticipated.  What happens for physio after this we are not quite sure, because Nate's stump is not healed enough yet to have a prosthetic put on. What we have been told is that Nate will be having physio from the Regional Rehab Center down by the General Hospital. Times and dates to be arranged.

Before I log off, I would like to thank all those wonderful Ladies who assisted in cleaning our home.  Much cleaning was necessary after our furry little rodent friends decided our home was a wonderful place to play, sleep, eat and leave black markings every where. Thank you so much, for all the cleaning you have done!  Thanks also to the many guys that have been hard at work in our home, preparing it for our return, all the moving of furniture, the hook ups,the last minute things and for those who are planning on coming still to do more work. We truly are thankful for all you have done.

Please continue to remember us in your prayers as we are preparing for the next stage, the return home, this is a time of excitement but also a lot of trepidation.  Thank you for all your prayers.

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

This text stands so true to us, for our Heavenly Father NEVER left us or forsook Nate, even during the darkest hours of his illness.  The LORD, carried Nate and us all through those days.

Today, for those who haven't heard, it is Nathan's birthday, and what a wonderful day we could have. Our Heavenly Father graciously has given Nathan another year to celebrate.  It was just over 11 weeks ago, and we didn't know if Nate would ever celebrate another year, but God has been so gracious, and has brought him to this day.  How awesome our God is!

Friday, was a day filled with assessments, and more assessments, and meeting many different teams and, getting acquainted with many different people. It turned out to be quite busy.  Saturday and Sunday are considered "days off" there is no physio, they are also known as catch up and relax days. Nathan had to do his regular physio in bed, (the things he has to do on his own) but other then that, he was "free" to visit with family and friends.  Monday starts the big day of physio, when Nate will get a taste of what is too come.

I'll continue to update you with the progress

Thank you for all your cards, words and prayers.  Please continue to uphold Nate in your prayers

P.S. for those who were wondering, our house renos hopefully will be done by Saturday!!!, which means I might be able to move home with the kids next week sometime. D.V. this will make life a bit busier yet, but it is a move towards "normal" life.  (or what will be our new normal)  YAHHHH!

"Bless the LORD, O my soul! And all that is with in me, bless His holy name!" Ps 103:1

This morning I received a phone call from Nate, requesting that I bring some bags with too the hospital.  Nate was going to be moving up the mountain.  Yes!  Nate is presently at the Henderson Hospital (Juravinski is the new name) in the M wing, 2nd floor, room 3, bed 2 The hospital is confusing right now, but hopefully soon we will figure it all out.  If you are visiting their best description too us was that the wing Nate is in is on the corner of popular and the mountain brow.  Do NOT enter by the main entrance or you will have to tour the whole hospital like I did this afternoon!!

We have met Nate's physio therapist, and he is eager to see what Nate can do and see what Nate would like to be able to do to go home.  This will take place tomorrow.  We have also been told that Nate will be able to go home on day passes or weekend passes, depending on how well he can function and how much range of motion he can get, this too is something not set in stone, but something we definitely would love to see happen.

At this point visiting hours are still till 8 p.m. so please respect this as the floor Nate is on is mostly elderly people, and Nate is in a room with 2 elderly men who appear to like to sleep a lot ;)  I'm not sure how it will go for tiredness for Nate, but PLEASE remember he is going to need his sleep.

Thank you for your continued prayers!

"It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night."  Ps 92: 1-2

Just a quick up date

Nathan is still in Ham General on the BTU which is on the third floor, this unit was supposed to be moved on Friday for construction, but due to an overwhelming number of patients needing beds, the unit has not been moved.  So Yes Nathan is still on the third floor and awaiting transfer to the Henderson Hospital for rehab.  This move hopefully will take place with in the next week as we are still awaiting doctors to sign off on Nate.

Some exciting news!! Nate stood for the first time this past Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Mon.  He stood with assistance of physio (holding his knee and foot) and a nurse at his side in case he fell and a walker to hold on to.  Nate was able to stand up to 45 seconds.  This is a huge accomplishment for some one who has an above knee amputation and a lot of muscle removed from his right leg and arm.  Many of the nurses came into see Nate in action when he stood.  It was exciting but also a reality check for Nate as to how far he has to go yet to regain strength.  All in all we are excited to see the progress.
Tomorrow morning (Jan 12) Nate will be going for a cardiac test (heart) to make sure his heart  is strong enough to endure extensive rehab.  This test take anywhere from 4-6 hours.  If he does well on this test then he will be cleared to go up to the Henderson.  The only wait then will be, waiting for a bed to open up!  This rehab, we have been told is very extensive, and we have been warned that Nate will need A LOT of sleep, including naps.  How often he has physio and what kind of physio we do not know, but we have been told it is a 4 week program and then hopefully he will be able to go home.  Once home he will need to go back and forth to the General for outpatient rehab, for amputation and prosthetic rehab.  But we are just excited to think that Nate, the LORD willing, will be able to go home in 4-5 weeks.  That being said, I hope to move home with the kids in the next 2 weeks if possible (if all the renos get finished :) )

"You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power adn strength to his people.  Praise be to God!"  Psalm 68:35

Happy New Year!
How richly blessed we have been in the past year, our merciful Father gives strength to all His children.  This has been evident to us in the past year especially in the past 2 months.

Now it seems i'm going back on my word to only blog once a week or so, but since blogging last a few things have changed. A few exciting and well I guess they are all kind of exciting

yestarday (Friday) Nate had his first tub bath since entering the hospital....this means that his skin grafts have healed very well and according to one plastic surgeon (not Nates official surgeon but one covering for him) he doesn't think Nate will need another surgery, this will be confirmed on Tues with Nate's 'official" surgeon.

The other thing was that Nate was able to go outside for the first time as well. We were able to be outside with his Dad and enjoy some "wonderful" hamilton "fresh" air.

The last bit of info, is that Nate will most likely be going to the Henderson for rehab as the rehab center on Wellington, is not suitable at this time for Nate.  He needs a specialized program to help with muscle building and range of motion for multiple limbs, this too will be confirmed next week (though we don't know when he will be moved there)  hopefully as more doctors need to be contacted first, and Nate's heart arrythmia doctors need to be okay with the move as well.  Yes, Nate has had approximately 12 different teams of docotrs each specializing in a different areas, and we have been informed that he will meet about  3 new teams in the coming weeks. That's a whole lot of doctors for one guy and this doesn't include the ICU team and all the residents etc.

Well I hope this is all the new info and I will blog again when we have the latest updates avaliable.
